Lausanne, 15th March 2020
Dear Friends and Family,
These last few months have been a tumultuous time for all of us, and our priority is ensuring the health and safety of the students and our community. We have been closely monitoring the emergence and impact of COVID-19 on the world and have been seeking God for wisdom and clarity.
The University of the Nations (UofN) is part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), a highly decentralized international movement of Christians dedicated to presenting the person of Jesus Christ. The UofN is unique in its international missionary training scope with school locations in 160 nations and at 800 locations on six continents, and therefore every location acts as an independent entity. This concept gives great strength to each location in being able to address issues and concerns from a local level.
Due to the fast changing facts and circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are asking each UofN location to work diligently to have the appropriate responses in light of the laws and recommendations of the authority in their country. We highly recommend that each location monitor and implement all government recommendations and updated travel restrictions. The safety of our students, staff, and volunteers is our priority, and we feel that each location is the best determiner of the way forward with the knowledge they have on the ground in order to comply with the recommendations of their country and local agencies.
For students, staff, volunteers, parents, and family that have any concerns or questions, we ask that you please contact the UofN location directly, so that you can get prompt and accurate information.
We ask that you continue to pray for peace, wisdom, and understanding in this trying time. Please pray for those affected by this virus. We are not responding to fear but listening to the Lord.
Blessings
Markus Steffen
