What is Youth With A Mission (YWAM)?

Why do I have to apply for each of my courses at a different office instead of signing up at one central registration?

The University of the Nations is very unique.  Rather than being a single centralized entity it is a global network with hundreds of local expressions. Each of these local expressions operate within a set of agreed policies and procedures and students on their courses that are registered with the UofN gain UofN credit. Every location operates autonomously and as such course admissions and scholarships are not administered from a central location.

What are the prerequisites for UofN schools or degrees?

All degrees and full-length courses (more than 6 weeks / credits) require the Discipleship Training School and Outreach to be successfully completed before doing a course.

Seminars (6 weeks / credits or less), are the exception.

How do I apply for a UofN course or degree?

To apply for each course, you must do this directly through the location where you are interested in doing the course – whether you are doing a degree or not. (See our explanation above of how the UofN operates.) Each location has an administration department that will process your application. Any questions about the school should be sent directly to them. Every application, once received in full, will be reviewed and prayerfully considered before an acceptance, refusal or deferment is given.

If you want to do a degree you should contact the relevant academic advisor for the college that your degree is in, and they will enroll you. (http://uofn.edu/about/academic-advisors) The procedure for applying for courses in your degree as mentioned above, applies.

Our degrees can be found at this url: http://uofn.edu/degree

What are the course fees & are there scholarships available?

Just as applications for courses are made directly to the location where a school is being run, so are the fees. School fees are designed to cover running costs and a student’s room and board (unless otherwise stated at application). Scholarships therefore are given at the discretion of the school leader and the operating location. Please contact the location you are applying to if you want to know more.

School Fees vary depending on location. You will need to contact the operating location for the school you are interested in to find out how much their school fees are.

What is covered by the school fees?

For all details regarding fees, including what is covered, you need to contact the location where you want to do the course. Tuition, food and accommodation are usually covered by the school fees unless otherwise stated but not the field assignment or other additional costs.

Can I work while doing a course with the UofN?

UofN courses are modelled on an intensive live-in learning programme of fifty or more hours per week. This is a much fuller program than most university courses. A three to five month UofN course will often involve as much learning as a full year at other universities.  The courses also involve a high degree of personal transformation in both mind and heart which requires time and freedom to apply without additional pressures or time commitments. The focus of this time should to be on learning and responding to God.

Is travel part of the course and will I need a visa?

Although the location where you are planning to do the school should be able to give you advice on the need for a visa and issue the appropriate letters for your application, if you need visas for that particular country it is your responsibility to find out that information and make the necessary applications.

If there is any further travel involved in doing the course the location will advise you of this and any related requirements.

Visas and travel expenses are not included in the school fees.

When & where are schools being run?

To know where a particular course is being run please refer to that course’s page on the UofN website – www.uofn.edu. You will be able to search for a particular course at a particular time or just see when it is running within the next year. If it does not show up on the UofN website, it probably means it is not currently running, but if in doubt you can always check with the location, if you know it, or contact your academic advisor as they may be able to help.

How can I get a degree?

If you are interested in pursuing a degree, you should first connect with the appropriate advisor (http://uofn.edu/about/academic-advisors). Once you and they have filled in a degree plan, and they have returned a signed copy to you, you are enrolled as a degree student with the UofN. Generally, it is your responsibility to find the schools you need to do and apply to them etc. But if you have any problems feel free to contact your advisor. If you want to change any courses or other details from the signed degree plan, please get approval from your advisor first as there are requirements that must be met in order for a degree to be issued.

If I have already done some schools with YWAM or University of the Nations, how do I find out how many credits I have?

To find out the number of credits you have, you can log in to your own profile by going to app.uofn.edu and following the instructions to create an account / log in access. It can take a few days to authenticate. But once you have access to your profile, you will be able to see how many credits you have and whether or not you have any schools missing from your profile. You will also be able to apply for graduation, request transcripts, request any corrections to your course history – if applicable, and generally keep tabs on your courses/degree.

Can I get transfer credit?

We do not determine transfer credit prior to degree enrollment. Once you have been enrolled in a UofN degree, if you wish to apply for transfer credit we will require that an official transcript be sent to the dean of the college you are pursuing a degree with or the Degree Student Administrator. They will evaluate it and decide if and how many credits can be transferred. However, no transfer credit will be added to your profile until all other requirements for your degree are completed.
