The Bible Leadership School is a mandatory Leadership Internship program for all staff serving on our base. This training program is designed to nurture leaders who pursue a deeper relationship with God while discovering and embracing their unique purpose and calling. Staff are intentionally developed both spiritually and personally, learning to lead from a place of intimacy with Jesus. Through a strong focus on spiritual formation, leadership development, community building, personal growth, and practical ministry skills, the program equips staff to serve with humility, lead with excellence, and become releasing leaders who empower and inspire others to fulfill God’s will with authenticity and courage.

Experienced missional business practitioners, along with our course instructors, worked for more than a full year to provide the highest quality, comprehensive and flexible learning experience possible. The end result is 525 pre-recorded videos produced in a short-video format. These videos, along with reading materials, activities and responses from the student, are organized into lessons of approximately 4-5 hours, with many stopping points along the way. This course structure allows the students to digest the material in shorter pieces and allows the school staff to monitor how well each student is learning. From Saturday - Thursday, Distance Learners (DL) students work through 4-5 of these lessons at their own pace and at a time that they learn best in their day. For the DL students, this means the core instruction is not a live class you watch online for three hours at a crazy time during the day or night! For Live-Learn Integrated Learning (LL) students, they go through the identical course lessons in a classroom together with experienced staff adding to the core teaching and facilitating classroom discussion. Throughout the week, both DL and LL students from all over the world, SOBE staff and SOBE instructors interact online through a discussion forum for that week. On Friday, we gather live online as a global school for a Q&A time with that week’s instructor(s) from the videos. Each student also has a weekly video or in-person one-on-one with a SOBE school staff person and then with a BAM coach that will be walking with them throughout the 12 weeks. At the end of the school the student completes the SOBE with a comprehensive written business plan based on our custom business plan template, which includes a startup budget and three years projected financials. They then pitch their business idea for ten minutes in front of a panel of five business professionals. All of our core lessons are delivered using Moodle as our Leaning Management System (LMS) and Vimeo as our Video Content Management System (Video CMS). The student can start and stop whenever they want. Moodle will resume the lesson at the point they left off and is accessible through a web browser on any computer, tablet or smart phone.

We are very excited to be running this course for the first time as a partnership between YWAM Nelson in New Zealand and Yachts for Life in Fiji. The school will be led by highly experienced and capable leaders who bring extensive sailing expertise, along with a genuine passion to pass on sailing skills to those who feel called to take to the seas on sailing vessels. The School of Navigation and Seamanship is for anyone who feels called to serve on the water. Whether you’re completely new to maritime life or already have some experience, this course blends practical seamanship training with discipleship, preparing you to serve with confidence on YWAM vessels throughout the Pacific. Students grow in technical skills, biblical character, and servant‑hearted leadership. Our goal is to raise up men and women who can safely and effectively support YWAM Ships as they bring hope and help to port cities and isolated island communities.
