Students continue studies after completion of the Birth Attendant School. Lectures focus on the risks, and lack of resources that allow for complications in less resourced nations. Students will gain further understanding about birthing practices in a community and prevention of risks. Lecture content includes puerperal sepsis, obstructed labor, postpartum haemorrhage and eclampsia, pregnancy complications. Integrated within lectures will be Gods heart for families with an ongoing focus on women and evangelism in the community
Part of this lecture phase will be 'on location', in a less resourced setting. Six - seven weeks of this lecture phase will be student led, with assignments related to researching maternal health needs, teaching and training families and women in the community. Teaching a community about simple but life-threatening problems. Students witness first-hand what it is like for women living in their local community. It gives understanding that the greatest needs are at a grass roots level, behind a door in a home within a local community. Prayer, spiritual warfare, and worship are important aspects of engagement with a community
