Discipleship Training School (DTS) ( DSP 211 )

This school is an intensive Christian discipleship course beginning with an 11 or 12-week lecture/teaching phase followed by an 8-12 week practical field assignment. It is a prerequisite for all other courses in the University of the Nations, and also serves to orient and prepare all new Youth With A Mission (YWAM) staff. The DTS is designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivating their relationship with God and identifying their unique gifts and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to evangelize and disciple current and future generations, answering the call to "Go into all the world and teach (make disciples of) all nations." (Matthew 28:19). The curriculum is in the following six major categories: God's nature and character; God's intention for individuals, peoples and nations; seeing all of life from God's perspective; redemption, sin, and the Cross; God's family - the Church; God's world - His call and commission; the ministries of YWAM. In this location the DTS is offered with a particular focus, such as the Media Track, Musicians Track and Backpackers Track.

Intercessory Prayer Seminar ( CHR 165 )

The goal of this 6-week seminar is for students to experience what it is to be an engaged, powerful participant in intercessory prayer who connects to God's heart, and becomes one who infects people around them with hunger to dwell in God's house, praying for the burdens of His heart. Students will become confident in planning and implementing creative Spirit-led prayer times. They will develop their skill in proclaiming the Word of God to overcome the enemy's strongholds in their own life and in the cities and nations we will pray for. They will learn to use the gifts of the Spirit when doing evangelism and will also be equipped with new ways to encounter God in their personal devotion time through contemplative prayer and silent prayer.

School of Intercessory Prayer ( CHR 265 )

The purpose of the SOIP is to teach, practice and encourage the daily exercise of intercessory prayer individually and corporately, and to understand the character, nature, and ways of God in prayer, intercession, worship and spiritual warfare. Understanding the significant place and practice of prayer in the believer’s life, and the role of worship and spiritual warfare in making disciples of the nations are taught through lectures, discussions, and research projects. Practical application includes coordinating and leading prayer and worship.

School of Missions and Evangelism ( CHR 231 )

This School is designed to equip you to share the Gospel, give you practical skills for long-term missions, and help you grow as a leader in the calling God has for you. The primary purpose is to help students gain a deeper understanding of God's heart for the lost and how to take practical steps in reaching out to those around you. Topics include: Spiritual Leadership, Pioneering, Team Dynamics, Evangelism, Fundraising, Church Planting, Public Speaking, Sermon Prep, and Community Development.

School of Missions and Evangelism ( CHR 231 )

The School of Missions and Evangelism (S.O.M.E.) brings together training in evangelism, missions, leadership, and ministry development. The S.O.M.E. is a well-rounded equipping for full-time ministry... whether students are called to serve Jesus in YWAM, the local church, or overseas. The lecture phase includes topics that fall under the following categories: Leadership, Evangelism, Missions, and Ministry Development. Our vision is to bridge the gap between ministry training and actual ministry. During lecture phase, students will do an internship that relates to the field God has called them to. After their outreach, they'll have the option to continue their internship... with a local church, on the missions field, or by joining us on staff at YWAM Yosemite.
