This Urban Community DTS or UCDTS is an intensive Christian discipleship course inclusive of an 11 month lecture/teaching phase with an 8-12 week practical field assignment woven into the 11 months. This UCDTS is designed to encourage students in their personal character development while helping cultivate healthy rhythms into their daily lives by placing an intentional focus on their relationship with God and each other. Our students live together in community and share meals together weekly. We strive to help students identify their unique gifts and callings, while keeping them within their spheres of influence or vocations. We believe Cross-cultural exposure happens both locally and globally. There is a special emphases throughout the course on preparing the students to evangelize and disciple current and future generations, answering the call, "Go into all the world and teach (make disciples of) all nations." (Matthew 28:19). This courses aim, as stated previously, is to make students disciples, who make disciples of Jesus. Therefore, we will not only teach the required DTS topics, but we will discuss God's view on topics such as finances, health, fitness, eating, sleeping, time management, sex and relationships. Outreaches in the past have consisted of both local and global ministry. Our students are exposed to different types of missions work; so our outreaches include serving by mercy ministry, evangelism, community development (tutoring, ESL), and many more.
