Introductory Bible Course ( CHR 227 )

In this course students are equipped with tools for in-depth personal Bible study. This course combines quality teaching, personal study, and practical application in order to help students develop a modest vocabulary and basic familiarity with the Scriptures as preparation for more advanced courses. It gives comprehensive coverage of many facets of Bible study such as inspiration and canonization of the Scriptures, hermeneutics, biblical ethics, Old Testament survey, basic Greek, New Testament survey, Church history, and homiletics. A disciplined learning environment helps prepare the student for a lifetime of Bible study. The school focuses on a variety of biblical topics already introduced in the Discipleship Training School, yet goes into a deeper study of each topic, with an emphasis on personal discipleship. Specific content will vary according to course location. This course meets the U of N Core Curriculum requirement for Bible and is offered under the following names: School of Biblical Foundations (SBF) and Discipleship Bible School (DBS).

Introductory Leadership Practicum I ( CHR 243 )

An extended practical mentoring experience for young leaders, including work in many departments in a YWAM centre, one-on-one sessions with leaders, classroom lectures, small group leadership and organizational training. 

School of Evangelism ( CHR 231 )

This course embraces both the message and the methods of evangelism. Its primary purpose is helping the student gain a deeper understanding of the character of God, including His love for the lost. We want to equip people to be effective witnesses for Christ in both western and eastern contexts. Our purpose is to place practical tools for evangelism in the hands of students.Topics include: An overview of biblical and historical perspectives on missions, people group thinking, cross-cultural communication, pioneer missions, missions and the local Church, the message of the Gospel, revival, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, ministering in the Spirit, personal renewal, spiritual warfare, and evangelism. Note: College of Christian Ministries degree students will not be awarded credit for this course until both the lecture and field assignments are satisfactorily completed.

School of Ministry Development ( CHR 241 )

This course will be run over a 2 year period as an internship with Youth With A Mission, Byron Bay. It is designed to train & mentor young leaders in the principles & practice of Bible based leadership. The internship requires the students to be involved in a ministry of YWAM Byron Bay in order to apply the leadership principles they are learning and to take various roles of leadership in those ministries. Throughout the course, trainees will be involved in leading small groups of people in both a discipleship & leadership role. Trainees will lead small outreach teams, projects or events, oversee small groups and be involved in the running of the ministry which they are involved in. During the course, trainees will also have lectures & assignments of their own which will highlight the leadership principles and assist trainees in developing biblically based leadership. Trainees will be assessed on their character development, leadership skills, and missions understanding as well as their development of personal skills and abilities related to leading.
