In this course students are introduced to the foundational values of YWAM through the setting of a live/learn environment, whereas as a community they'll learn concepts which will accelerate and deepen their educational process. This course is a response to YWAM's values #1 and #2 and it is set up as such in two separate phases: training phase and outreach phase - where students get to know God and make him known in a cross cultural setting. The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a six month experience that transforms lives by pushing students to know God and make him known. Each DTS phase is about three months. During the training phase students have one goal: to build a deep relationship with Jesus - where they study the Bible, learn about the Character and Nature of God, intercede for nations in prayer, practice hearing God’s voice, and learn how to change someone’s life by doing so. Outreach phase is when students finally get to go to the nations. They are sent with a team to a place where people need to learn about Jesus. On outreach students are challenged to love people, to share the gospel with boldness, to pray for miracles, and act on their compassion. It’s a time where they practice teamwork, learn about cultures, eat new foods, travel in old buses, trek mountains, serve the poor, are invited into homes, and try their best to love the person God places in front of them. Why? So that the world would know Jesus - to share the Gospel and see people transformed by God’s love.
