Credits: 1 - 12

The specific objective for this course is to equip midwifery teachers, including clinical preceptors, to educate midwifery students who will be providing culturally responsive care, normally to women with normal pregnancies. Students have didactic, as well as clinical sessions to help them develop the needed strategies, enabling them to instruct midwives in the full scope of practice, both for families having normal pregnancies and those who are experiencing an emergency that must be referred to a higher level of care. The Midwife Teacher may be mentoring students who will become certified/registered professionals or those who will solely work under the supervision of another professional health care provider, or health care system.
