COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION

TEAM-BASED COMMUNICATION - MODULE ONE: THE TRINITY, COMMUNITY, AND COMMUNICATION (CMC 511)

Prerequisites:
Credits: 1 - 12

ThisĀ first module of the Master of Arts in Team-Based Communication focuses on a biblical perspective of communication, laying a foundation for modules 2-4. We will examine our understanding of communication, applied to team life in global missions. This module unpacks the communication DNA implicit in our values and rooted in the nature of Who God Is, relates that to the academic study of communication, and considers its application to our roles and tasks as communicators. In this introductory 16-week module we address five threads of learning. First of all, we consider God as Communicator, and what we can learn about communication from God as seen in the Trinity, the Incarnation, and Pentecost. Secondly, we consider the movement we are part of, and what our founding documents tell us about communication. Thirdly, we consider the academic field of communication in teams and in non-profit organizations. Fourthly, we reflect on our own communication experiences in light of the above perspectives. Finally, this module introduces the skills necessary to do the academic work of a graduate degree.
