Discipleship Training School (DTS) ( DSP 211 )

This DTS is a full time, live learn school where it serves to gather and challenge people to listen to and obey God, whilst releasing them to serve through evangelism, intercession and other expressions of God’s heart for the world.  Students are challenged to grow in their relationship with God as they learn from the DTS Curriculum, resulting in Christ like character.  There is personal application of Biblical truth, while being equipped to live and relate to others, both in YWAM and outside of it.  It consists of a minimum of, 11 to 12 week lectures and minimum 8 to 12 weeks practical field assignment, in accordance with UofN DTS Guidelines.   

School of Ministry Development ( CHR 241 )

Leadership schools come in different forms, designed to meet the needs of the students, equipping them for servant leadership while giving opportunity for personal growth and development. Two emphases offered in this category of school are: School of Ministry Development (SOMD) - During this school students discover and develop their gifts and talents in leadership roles. The course is especially designed for new staff at YWAM centres and is adapted to the context of the language and culture of the country in which it is taught. Some of the topics are: understanding the core values of YWAM, perspectives on missions, generational thinking, transforming cultures, personal fund-raising, worship and evangelism, personal ministry development, public speaking, spiritual authority, and conflict resolution. School of Pioneer Leadership Development (SPLD) - This school has the goal of equipping young leaders to pioneer new YWAM bases, schools or ministries. Students will receive tools to help them in becoming effective learners and leaders -- learning the culture, and in some cases the language, of the people where they will pioneer. Topics include: team building, principles of pioneering, servanthood, foundational leadership practices, mentoring, coaching, and the role of intercession in pioneering. Students may have opportunity to work alongside ministries that are in a pioneering phase of development. A recommendation from a YWAM leader is required for entry into this course.

School of Musical Theatre (Performance and Production) ( ATS 237 )

The School of Musical Theatre (Performance and Production) aims to develop in students the skills, knowledge and character required for creating and producing musical theatre as a tool for evangelism. Additionally, the school aims to equip students to enter the sphere of Celebration (Arts and Sports) in order to be a light and witness for Christ. The course will cover God’s heart for the Arts, the global Musical Theatre industry, intimacy and identity, Bible study and the Hebraic mindset and being a witness in the sphere of Celebration. Further to this, topics including, but not limited to, singing, dancing, acting, producing, playwriting, composing, set design and stage management will be explored. Students will be exposed to the broad range of areas involved in Musical Theatre production whilst simultaneously developing a specific area of expertise.

School of Worship ( ATS/CHR 261 )

The School of Worship is a three month course (followed by an 8-12 week field assignment) imparting foundational values and principles to those intending to serve in worship among the nations.
Topics include: character and lifestyle as a worshiper, understanding the work of the Holy Spirit in worship, applying worship principles within a cross-cultural context, the biblical and historical aspects of worship, leadership and teamwork, the dynamics of worship and intercession, prophetic ministry, spiritual warfare, creativity and musicianship, and worship in missions and evangelism. Each SOW can vary in a particular emphasis such as music or creativity which will be indicated on individual SOW websites and folders.
