Participatory Learning & Assessment

Community Assessment is the process of discovering hidden or unrecognized patterns in a community crucial for the community to move towards God's good intentions. Participative Assessment is an essential approach and set of skills for anyone working in missions from many disciplines; from Global Health, Anthropology, Income & food security and discipleship. This seminar will offer an approach to participative assessment - where the community owns and authors their own process of development. It will provide an introduction to assessment methods including quantitative and qualitative methods, but will focus particularly on participative learning & action (PLA) tools. The seminar will also introduce crowd-sourced assessment and mapping using cross-platform smart phone and tablet applications. The seminar will include both lectures, discussions and hands-on practice with these methods.
