The Community Development School (CDS) provides training in a Biblical approach to community transformation, beginning with the holistic development of the individual and his or her relationship with God. The principles and practices of the course are designed to enable change in varied settings throughout the world, rural or urban, with constant awareness of the current challenges and possibilities of the globalized world. The CDS is designed to equip students with skills to empower communities of varying size to initiate and accomplish strategic activities, with the ultimate goal of bringing life and growth according to God's purposes as He establishes His kingdom on earth. As such, the course curriculum provides a solid working knowledge of transformational development values and skills, while also emphasizing the building up of godly character and healthy relationships in and among participants. The CDS maintains a holistic perspective and focus on the Kingdom of God, is built on the Foundational Values of YWAM and integrates YWAM's three emphases of evangelism, training and mercy ministry, all of which are necessary for successful community development. The course has the clear aim of releasing long-term development workers / servant-leaders into the nations
