This advanced course is for health workers and medical professionals who already have a background in health care training. It will be a continuing primary health care school for the non-medical professionals, and for medical professionals it will equip you for service in cross-cultural missions contexts with the focus on whole person care. It provides clinical tools for the medical practitioner in the area of diagnosis and management of medical problems. Topics include: principles of patient care such as practical, systematic instruction in the signs, symptoms and treatment of common medical problems; patient assessment; emergency response; pharmacology, including a survey of drug classifications, uses, dosages, and side effects; nutritional rehabilitation; and advanced clinical skills, such as clinical procedures in suturing, intravenous therapy, oral hygiene and fluoride application, plastering and splinting, basic dentistry, and emergency childbirth.
